QUERENCIA

Pronounced: Ker-enc-iA Day Camp Summer sessions for ‘all-girl’ & ‘all-boy’ programming ages 8 to 13 years SUMMER 2026 DATES & RATES TBA Site Drop-off location: Coast Mountain Academy 3295 Mamquam Rd, Garibaldi Highlands *BUS TRANSPORTATION OPTION TO AND FROM BRENNAN PARK 8:30am sharp departure / 4pm return = +$10 per day Pronounced: Ker-enc-iA By definition, Querencia is a place where one feels safe, a place from which one's strength of character is drawn. This is the type of environment we strive to create at Camp Querencia: a place where every child/youth feels safe and where their self-esteem and confidence flourish! Our summer day camp intentionally creates a space where day-to-day distractions are taken out of the mix, allowing girls to forge deep connections with other girls and experience the power of sisterhood. Free of any self-consciousness they might feel at school or in other social settings, Camp Querencia fosters an appreciation for community and gives girls/boys a first-hand sense of what it feels like when we “raise each other up.” During our Camp Querencia ‘Adventure Camp’ sessions campers will start out each day building on our ‘cabin group’ relationships through team initiative activities, get creative with some arts & crafts and set out on ‘off-site adventures to explore the beautiful sea to sky region. Some of the ‘off-site’ activities our campers can expect to participate in are: hiking, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering/geocaching and fishing to name a few. We are so lucky to live and play in one of the most beautiful places on earth, here in Squamish, that there aren’t enough hours in a day for all that we have planned for our girls this summer! Program activities include archery, group games, team initiatives, orienteering and artistic activities combined with purposeful group chats. In a supportive space, we intentionally provide our campers with a place to be open, broaden concepts of self-love, and increase opportunities for campers to gain leadership skills. We’ll discuss healthy relationships, anti-bullying, and the idea of 'paying it forward.' Under the mentorship of an experienced leader, the girls/boys will grow and learn together in “cabin groups” of 8-10 campers. They will leave carrying a different set of ideals; with a boost in confidence; having made new, lifelong friends; and with a perspective they will take home with them – continuing the positive, influential ripple effect our leaders will have imprinted on them. Camp Querencia… changing the world, one camper at a time! *Campers are required to bring their own "nut-safe" lunch, running shoes or sandals that securely tie/velcro to the feet and weather-appropriate clothing. A recommended list of what to bring will be sent to all registrants after your application has been received. Camp Querencia: 8:30am - 4pm daily (NO CAMP on stat holidays) $450 Drop-in days: ‘onsite days’ (Monday, Wednesday) = $99.75 & ‘off-site days’ (Tuesday & Thursday = $110.25+ Fridays (T-shirt included for ‘end of week’ t-shirt signing tradition) = $105 ’All-Girls/Boys’ Program Details: 8:30am - 4pm daily (NO CAMP on stat holidays)

TEEN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR TEENS IN GRADES 7 - 9 Is your ‘teen’ ready to explore some leadership development opportunities and grow as a young leader, developing their skill sets along the way? Our 3-Tier Leadership Development Program will surely take your teen’s interest and passion around self-development and ‘making a difference' to the next level! Our leadership development programs are a great opportunity for them to learn a combination of leadership and facilitation skills all while making new friends and strengthening the existing bonds between other familiar faces and staff alike. SUMMER 2025 PROGRAM DATES & RATES TBA: Pathfinder & Trailblazer - Co-ed Leadership Development programs Teens going into grade 7/8 (Sept 2025) The Pathfinder & Trailblazer is a program for emerging leaders who wish to strengthen their leadership skills and experiences in participating in activities ‘with’ children, for those young leaders who are interested in growing their leadership skills and learning what it means to be a great leader and someone to look up to. This program will allow young leaders to still participate as a 'camper', participating in all the camp activities that they know and love as well as develop relationships with campers that will have a tremendous impact on their lives & make new friends! This is the 1st and 2nd tier of our 3-tier leadership development program and the roles as a Pathfinder & Trailblazer camper will allow these individuals the opportunity to participate for half of their day in the traditional camp activities such as archery, team initiatives, orienteering, water sports etc. with a ‘leadership twist’ on how to facilitate, look for opportunities to create lasting impacts with campers as well as develop a sense of ‘risk management’ to keep our younger campers safe during camp activities. The other half of their day will place them with a Camp Counsellor who will guide them throughout the morning/afternoon and provide them with tips and helpful hints on how to be an influential leader when participating with younger campers. All of our leadership programs will be directly supervised by a ‘Leadership Director’ who will observe their ‘experiential’ involvement with their cabin groups to provide feedback to assist in their leadership growth. Our Leadership Director will also run our leaders through a workshop each week which will also compliment their leadership development here at camp helping them to grow into the best versions of themselves. LIT (Leader In Training) Program: Teens going into grade 9 (Sept 2025) The Leader-In-Training (LIT) program is a leadership development program in which budding leaders have the opportunity to employ the leadership skills they have developed through the camp/leadership programs, and specific LIT workshops. Each Week LITs are paired with a cabin group leader and are given the opportunity to ‘learn through example’ from that leader. LITs also receive group and one-on-one training from their Leadership Director to assist in their continued growth throughout the program. Each morning will begin with a ‘family meeting’ with their LIT Director and then with their cabin group leader to discuss the day ahead and plan for ‘initiative opportunities’ for our LITs to take on when they feel ready. The absolute best way to learn and grow as a young leader is to learn by ‘doing’ and through the experiential guidance they will receive as LITs they will grow in leaps and bounds! Leadership campers (LITs) who show a keen interest in working with their peers and younger children are encouraged to apply to become ‘leaders in training’. LITs are encouraged to participate in a min. of 3 separate weeks throughout the ‘calendar year’ as we believe that by the 3rd week, they really get a great sense of what it might feel like to be a cabin group leader. *LITs who complete the program (3 weeks min) may have the opportunity to earn their position on our Camp staff team as a ‘Cabin Counsellor’ where they will have their very own ‘cabin group’ of children to guide and nourish throughout their specific program for the following school year/summer.
